Steven is Head of Research and Policy at the Strategy Unit, a multi-disciplinary team of NHS staff offering specialist support to a wide range of health and care organisations. Steven has a particular interest in the factors that explain and influence the rates of healthcare and social care use. Steven has published a number of important papers about the urgent care system, highlighting increases in hospital admission thresholds via A&E, and identifying the factors that have contributed to the decline in performance against the 4-hour A&E target. Steven also has a keen interest in health inequalities and has published several reports and papers that measure inequities in access to planned hospital services.
