Mike Hurley has been a physiotherapist since 1985. In 1992, he obtained a Doctorate from Kings College London and was subsequently Lecturer, Reader and Professor at King’s before Research Lead at St George’s University of London between 2010-2023. His research aims to develop and implement exercise-based interventions for rheumatological conditions, falls, cancer, chronic fatigue and dementia. He has authored over 100 papers and contributed to national and international committees. Most notably he developed ESCAPE-pain, a rehabilitation programme for people with knee, hip and back pain, that is currently implemented in over 300 clinical, leisure, and community centres across the UK.
