Matthew Carr
Clinical Director,
NHS Sussex
Matthew is a senior clinical healthcare leader who currently splits his time across three leadership roles.
He is a Clinical Director for the Sussex ICB (NHS Sussex) where he supports a wide range of clinical and care programmes to deliver optimal outcomes and experience for the Sussex population. In this role, he clinically led the development of a single Sussex musculoskeletal (MSK) service specification. He successfully secured endorsement from primary, community and secondary care providers, and local VCSE partners, to deliver a consistent, contemporary and integrated model of MSK care for the population of Sussex.
He is Clinical Director for Sussex MSK Partnership East, responsible for enabling the highest standards of MSK care for East Sussex communities. He has supported the delivery of a comprehensive integrated model of MSK healthcare delivery, bringing together multiple primary and community clinical teams to deliver a single high quality service for the local population.
Matthew has recently been appointed as Chair of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) Professional Committee. In this role, he will ensure the committee provides expertise and insight on significant physiotherapy practice, learning and development issues.
Matthew has explored a variety of professional interests including advanced clinical practice, operational management, organisational leadership and clinical academic roles. He has published primary research in a peer reviewed journal on the development of clinical expertise in the MSK workforce. He has also held a quality lead role for MSK Partners Network. Matthew remains a long serving core member of the CSP South East Coast Regional Network.
