Jonathan is the Director of Research for the School of Allied Health Professionals and is Professor of Physiotherapy, at Keele University, UK. His research is focused on improving the assessment and management of musculoskeletal pain in primary care and his key areas of expertise are in large randomised controlled trials, such as testing stratified care and decision support tools relevant to first-line MSK care and also in research related to musculoskeletal care quality through better MSK measurement/benchmarking in the primary care setting. He is well known for his research on the STarT Back and STarT MSK trials that have tested the clinical and cost effectiveness of risk stratification approaches within UK primary care.
