Sharon completed her BSc Physiotherapy at the University of Manchester in 2001, obtained an MSc in Orthopaedic Medicine at Middlesex University in 2008, and her Professional Doctoral in Physiotherapy at Manchester Metropolitan University in 2016. Since specializing in MSK in 2005, she has also fulfilled other post graduate studies, including the Fellowship of the Society of Musculoskeletal Medicine (SOMM), Injection Therapy, NMP and the CSP Leadership Development Programme, all of which support her current roles in the NHS and other work streams. She is also the HEE National FCP supervisor trainer.
Sharon's specialization spans clinical, educational and academic fields, locally, nationally and internationally. She has over 14 years’ experience in postgraduate MSK education, and currently MSc Module Lead of the Injection Therapy and Developing Professional Practice module. She is active in conferences and publications. In Feb 2023, Sharon published the 5th edition of ‘The Practical Approach to Musculoskeletal Medicine’, as one of the co-authors.
Sharon is passionate about driving changes in improving and supporting MSK health and standards in both clinical and education fields. In current years, she has been actively engaged in National MSK projects such as the FCP MSK Roadmap and the UK AP MSK standards. She is currently Co-Chair of the UK MSK Partnership Group, an expert reference group for national MSK policy and strategy across the UK from more than 40 professional bodies, professional special interest groups and subspecialties in MSK.
