Delivering rehab for neurodivergent populations
More and more patients are recognising challenges that align with neurodiversity such as ASD & ADHD (the most common) albeit with or without a diagnosis and it is our responsibility under the UK Equality Act 2010 as therapy providers to make reasonable adjustments to ensure they are not disadvantaged. But in order to do this, we need to understand how these conditions present, what challenges people encounter and how we can subsequently make these reasonable adjustments. This in turn can provide more effective treatment to achieve better outcomes. This presentation will describe and discuss neurodiversity, how it can impact on the individual and how therapists can support neurodiversity.
